Iran Mens Rugby 7 Team left for Hong Kong on 5 November with 12 players in their quest for a place at the Rio De Janeiro Olympics 2016.

Iran Rugby President Dr. H. Mirza Agha Baik said that with the minimum of facilities and budget for our team, we go to these important competitions thanks to the hard work put in by our team and the coaches. We are ready to meet against the best teams of Rugby in Asia.
We have overcome many difficulties in our preparations and are proud to be able to go to these competitions with our 12 combatants who have made sacrifices and are ready to do their duty for the love of Rugby. We are entering a Golden age of Rugby in Iran with this upcoming generation, with an average age of 23 years old, who are building the road for the future of Iran Rugby. I thank all those who have helped us in the coaching and referee departments.
For Iran Rugby, we have announced to all the provinces that we are ready to help you to attend the Rugby 7 and 15 competitions given that the provincial clubs fulfill the conditions.
Finally, I thank all the federation and associations and in particular Mr. Alipour who has helped us. We make no promises however we are happy to be in these competitions after our hard work, and I have and continue to show my full confidence in every member of the Rugby team in these competitions
