The head of the Rugby Association welcomed the recent visit to Teheran by the German sportsmen (under the umbrella of the European Union Sport office). Iran Rugby President Dr. H. Mirza Agha Baik, speaking to the Federation of Sports Associations in Iran, said: "Mr. Hans Peter Wolf and Raven Ducher, who are from the European Union sporting Office came to Tehran and we had satisfactory talks with them.
He added that these two well-known German sports representatives expressed their wishes to expand the rugby ties between Iran and Germany. The foundation of these talks was launched last year during which the national women's rugby teamsâ€™ visited Germany last year.
The head of the Rugby Association said: "We have agreed that German Rugby Teams will come to Iran and compete in a four-party rugby tournament held in Tehran this November. Hopefully, we will have two European teams (one German and one Turkish) and two teams from Iran.
Dr. H. Mirza Agha Baik added: "These two special guests visited our facilities and ground. We enjoyed the warm and friendly discussions. He concluded: "It is hoped that these interactions will lead to further growth of our country's rugby".
